About Sarah

Sarah (she/her) is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and Registered Play Therapist- Supervisor™ at Seven Corners Psychotherapy.

First and foremost, Sarah believes that children strive to do the best for themselves and others, yet sometimes get lost along the way. Children get confused by the complications and events of living life and the hard work of growing up. Sarah passionately believes every child has the potential to grow and heal when they feel understood and encouraged. Sarah’s work with children involves meeting children where they are developmentally using an evidence-based approach called play therapy. However, it is important to note that in play therapy, children are not “just playing.” Toys are children’s words and play is their language. Sarah first fosters a healing relationship with children through heartfelt empathy, authenticity, and compassion. Through this relationship with Sarah, children can then explore and process their challenges and successes in the way that is most natural to them—play. She also works collaboratively with caregivers to build their skills and knowledge to more successfully parent the child in front of them in a way that feels safe and nonjudgmental. Her work with caregivers involves walking alongside them and their child as they move towards a more connected, attuned, and joyful relationship. Sarah’s goal in working with clients is that children will feel seen, heard, and understood during their sessions; caregivers will feel able to be present and intentional in their parenting through their partnership with Sarah; and ultimately the child will feel more confident, balanced, and able to be their true self.

In addition to providing therapy, Sarah provides clinical supervision for individuals working towards their license as a Licensed Professional Counselor and Play Therapy Supervision/Consultation for those working towards their Registered Play Therapist™ credential. She also enjoys providing training and continuing education to counselors and play therapists. Sarah currently serves as the President of the Virginia Association for Play Therapy.
